About this unit

Students practice being Shomrei Adamah, Stewards of the Earth, as they conduct in-school research on waste and water management practices in order to determine effective strategies to create a more sustainable learning environment. Students transform a water-cycle diagram into an ANT (Actor-Network Theory) map to explore the relationships between the living and non-living things in the environment. Students partner with a local environmental agency to perform much-needed habitat restoration work.

critical challenge

Students will create, implement, and reflect on an action plan to help improve the school's use of natural resources to ensure the well-being of the environment and of others. After assessing the success of their plan, they will present their findings to other people in the school community.
