Concept
A great plan is one that helps someone feel well, can be done with the skills and resources we have, and provides long-lasting help.
Lesson Outline
We’re going to read some stories about kids who show care for others to learn how we might care for people.
Show an image of a character from the chosen book.
"What do you see?”
“What do you think about how their body, brain or heart is feeling?”
Remind students that the Critical Challenge is to make a plan and take action to help someone feel well and explain:
A great action is one that is helpful, doable, and lasting.
A helpful plan helps someone’s body, brain or heart feel well.
A doable plan is one that we can do with the time, resources and knowledge we have.
A lasting plan helps someone for a long time.
Continue reading the story and ask student to consider the plan described in the story and explain if it’s a "great plan" for us.
Does the action/plan help someone’s body, brain or heart feel well?
Can it be done with the time, resources and knowledge we have?
Does the action/plan help someone for a long time?
Critical Challenge Note
